This stone is located in the Hartland Village Cemetery.
From the 1984 survey done by H. Attwood: Except for Judge Steele's, the Sumner gravestones and the Steele's - Mary, David and Martha - are all modern markers, all alike and were placed after the death of Mary Steele, as provided for in her will. According to Mrs. Fannie (Richardson) Sturtevant, a life-long friend and neighbor of the Sumners and Steele's, Mr. and Mrs. Sumner's gravestones are mis-placed. Their graves are in line with Helen (Cady) Hanchett's, a niece of Mrs. Sumner who had lived with them. “Mrs. Steele's remains lie at the right of Judge Steele. At the left are Mary and David.” (FRS) David H. Sumner Jr. is buried next to Helen, but he has no gravestone. David H. Sumner, Sr. is next to David and then Mrs. Sumner, viz: Helen M. Cady Hanchett-David Sumner, Jr. - D. H Sumner, Sr. - Wealthy T. Sumner
1843-1867.
