Jos. Marcy, Vt. Mil. Ref. War (A government marker). Joseph Marcy's body was placed in the Marcy tomb that was built into the hillside on former Marcy land in back of the A. A. Martin house (Ellis 1991) in Hartland Village. His gravestone really should be placed near the Marcy tomb. Joseph Marcy was born Nov. 22, 1758 and died Oct. 13, 1838. Several family members have been placed in the Marcy tomb -- Joseph Marcy, Sr. and his wife Mary Cole, Joseph Marcy, Jr., and his wife Charity Hodges Leonard, Dr. Sylvester Marcy, son of Joseph Sr., Thomas T., Andrew C. Fred & Edgar, sons of Joseph, Jr. and and infant child of L. J. M. Marcy, youngest son of Joseph Marcy, Jr.
